Chapel Lane cottage is a luxurious self-catering accommodation approved by the Northern Ireland Tourist Board. Situated in the centre of Armagh, this charming listed building was constructed in the 1780’s. It is within short walking distance of the vast majority of Armagh’s cultural attractions, shops, bars and restaurants.
It originally consisted of two cottages but have been amalgamated and beautifully restored into one house and is now equipped with all modern amenities yet retaining its period charm.
The cottage consists of three bedrooms, two double and one single. The spacious living room contains DVD, VCR and wireless internet connection. A selection of DVD’s and books are supplied. The kitchen/dining room are fully equipped with all mod cons including dishwasher, microwave, fridge, freezer and much more. There is an enclosed patio and decked area to the rear and a resident’s car park.
Armagh is the city of Saint Patrick and ecclesiastical capital of Ireland. It is also its oldest city. The Armagh of today is a unique city, steeped in history, culture and folklore. The name Armagh comes from Ard Macha or “Macha’s Heights” after the legendary Pagan Queen, who according to tradition, built a fortress on top of the hill, where the Church of Ireland Cathedral now stands with Chapel Lane cottage, a little down the hill, in sight of the Cathedral.
Within 5 minutes walk you can reach; the Market Place Theatre, Armagh Public Library, Irish and Local Studies Library, St. Patrick’s Church of Ireland Cathedral and St. Patrick’s Trian Visitor Centre, as well as the principle shopping streets. 10 minutes will take you to the Planetarium and the Observatory, The Palace Stables Heritage Centre, The Franciscan Friary ruins, the Archbishops Palace and St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Cathedral.
10 minutes drive will bring you to attractions including the Navan Centre and Fort, William McCrum Park, “Home of the penalty kick”, the Argory and Ardress House as well as county parks and other National Trust Properties.
For those seeking more active holidays there is plenty of golf, fishing, horse riding, walking and hiking on offer.
